We invite you with heart and soul to join us on a most amazing and joyful journey of Jewish learning. For Jews, learning and teaching are prized values that provide the learner with facts, concepts, stories and life skills that enable a rich satisfying life. Our people have survived for thousands of years because we make learning and growing a part of our identity as Jews. We are encouraged to question, challenge, struggle with and love our texts, myths, traditions, moral and ethical positions.
Throughout our lives, we are “Yisrael”, those who struggle with God. This struggle occurs both as individuals and in community. Our community is one that works to be ethical and moral human beings as we also celebrate our lives as Jews. We want to make Jewish choices based upon knowledge and we know that knowledge grows throughout our lives. Jewish life teaches wisdom, belonging and love. As Jews, we celebrate each life, for each life is precious.
Our tradition teaches, “Lead a child in the way they should go, and they will follow after.” A key phrase is “Lead”. The parents are the first and most important teachers of their children. Children will follow and so that makes the parent our critical partners in this exciting journey. Our education program will support parents, teach them, add to their store of knowledge and ideas so that they can lead their children. Together with the teachers, the parent is the most important role model.
In Pirke Avot (Sayings of our Ancestors) it says, "It is not incumbent upon us to complete the task, neither are we free to desist from it." Each school year is a step along the way. Teachers and parents come together to excite, stimulate and enable the children to thrive because we thrive. With parents and teachers working together, a community of learners is created that celebrates who we have been, who we are, and who we can become.
