SCHOOL MISSION STATEMENT

Am Echod believes in an intensive and continuous Jewish education for our children and our families. Our families should fully experience the values of Jewish life and ideals of Jewish heritage, with unconditional love, joy and pride.

Therefore, Am Echod has adopted the following principles for our educational program.

  • The educational program will instill a love, pride and understanding of Jewish heritage.
  • The educational program will strive to create a warm and positive environment that will foster our Jewish identity.
  • The educational program will foster awareness that will embrace the past, present and future of the Jewish people.
  • The educational program will provide an environment that will teach Hebrew language and strengthen the ties to the Jewish people.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM

Am Echod has traveled a splendid educational journey of more than 100 years. Today, the congregation has a renewed attitude towards life long learning that can bring to our religious school, teachers, parents and children to a common ground where knowledge and commitment to Judaism is essential. The curriculum utilizes a great variety of teaching styles and activities. It stresses the sheer enjoyment that can be found in learning. Many of the Hebrew classrooms are multi age. Parents are often in classroom and all are to embrace a deeper level of understanding Judaism. Am Echod encourages families to work together to form a learning community that will be meaningful to all.

COOPERATIVE RELIGOUS EDUCATION

Parents take an active role in the school. It is the hope of Am Echod that the students of the Am Echod Cooperative School will learn that Reform Judaism is a way of life. In order to learn this, parental involvement in teaching and learning is critical whether at the school or in the home. Children learn from their parents and follow what they do. The parents are the main teachers whereas the school helps to provide the guidance.
